Lahiri shoots 65 at WGC-Bridgestone Invitational


August 3: Anirban Lahiri of India fired a five-under-par 65 for his lowest opening round in 2018 to tie in seventh place at the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational on Thursday. 

Lahiri, the 2015 Asian Tour number one, was hot off the blocks when he reeled in four birdies before dropping his only bogey of the day on the 10th hole. He swiftly recovered with birdies on holes 13 and 16 for his best score at Firestone Country Club.

Thai star Kiradech Aphibarnrat returned on a 70 with the highlight of his day coming on the par-three 15th hole where he sank a monster 42-foot birdie to lie in tied 46th place.

Current Habitat for Humanity Standings leader Shubhankar Sharma of India was a further two shots back while Kodai Ichihara of Japan shot a 73 to place tied 65th.
